Superfoods for Super Skin!

Superfoods for Super Skin!

‘You are what you eat’ constantly gets thrown around, but it’s definitely something you should take onboard if you’re after beautiful, soft and glowing skin. Add some of the following nutritious, skin-loving superfoods into your diet straight away – but, you may be surprised to find not all of them are fruits and vegetables!

Dark Chocolate

Before you grab that block of Dairy Milk, its best to choose chocolate that is at least 70% cocoa if you want super skin. Cocoa is rich in flavanols, a type of antioxidant, which hydrate for firm, supple skin, and can improve circulation.

Oats

Many skin issues are caused by spikes in blood sugar and hormone imbalances. Opt for steel-cut oatmeal, which is less processed and takes longer for the body to digest, stabilising blood sugar. Spikes in blood sugar can mess with your hormone levels, contributing to wrinkles and causing the glands in your skin to secrete excess oil, which only leads to one thing… pimples.

Green Tea

Adding a cup of green tea into your daily routine will help to increase elasticity and smoothness of the skin and prevent sun-damage. Green tea is bursting with antioxidants, boosting blood flow and oxygen to the skin. This in turn will help deliver key nutrients, also reducing redness and inflammation, for a healthy and glowing complexion.

Salmon

Salmon is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which help keep your skin hydrated and supple. Omega-3 fatty acids also reduce inflammation, which can help reduce the risk of acne and other skin conditions. Salmon is also high in vitamin D, which is essential for healthy skin.

Olive Oil

No wonder the Greek population is so youthful and beautiful – Olive Oil is known to lessen the signs of ageing! It’s high in monounsaturated fatty acids, which are responsible for the hydrating youth boost. Olive oil is also full of antioxidants to quench damaging free radicals.

Coffee

Studies have found a lowered rate of skin cancer in coffee drinkers compared to those who steer clear. Coffee has anti-inflammatory properties, reducing inflammation and redness in your skin – say goodbye to puffiness and redness!

In conclusion, incorporating these superfoods into your diet can help improve the health and appearance of your skin. Remember, healthy skin is not just about what you eat, but also about maintaining good overall health and taking care of your skin from the outside, such as using sunscreen, drinking plenty of water and applying moisturiser regularly.
