Hello, fellow nail enthusiasts! Are you tired of spending big bucks at the local salon for a manicure? Or maybe you just want to practice a little self-care and do it yourself? Well, look no further! Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do your own manicure at home.
Step 1: Gather Supplies
First things first, gather all the supplies you'll need. This includes nail polish remover, a nail clipper, a nail file, a cuticle pusher, cuticle trimmer, nail polish and your favourite éLive Moisturising Gel Gloves. You might also want to grab a towel to catch any stray polish.
Step 2: Prep Your Nails
Start by removing any old polish from your nails. Then, trim your nails to your desired length and shape using a nail clipper. File your nails to smooth any rough edges and to give them your desired shape. Be sure to file in one direction to prevent any damage to your nails.
Step 3: Soak Your Nails
Soak your nails in warm soapy water for about five minutes. This will help soften your cuticles and make them easier to push back.
Step 4: Push Back Your Cuticles
Using a cuticle pusher or an orangewood stick, gently push back your cuticles. Be sure to be gentle and not to push too hard, as this can damage your nails and bruise your cuticle skin.
Step 5: Trim Your Cuticles
Using a cuticle trimmer, trim any dead skin or hangnails around your cuticles. Be sure to be gentle and not to trim too much, as this can cause bleeding and infection. Skip this step if you aren’t comfortable trimming your cuticles by yourself – it can be tricky to nail! (Pardon the pun!)
Step 6: Hydrate
Generally, at this point, salon services apply a greasy feeling body moisturiser, messy paraffin treatment or basic hand cream, but we recommend wearing our éLive Moisturising Gel Gloves for an unparalleled boost of hydration that reveals visibly changed, silky soft skin and nourished cuticles. The perfect canvas for your favourite nail polish, and a great way to relax and recharge for 20-30 minutes whilst our gloves do their thing!
Step 6: Apply Nail Polish (Optional)
Now it's time for the fun part, applying the nail polish! Apply a base coat to your nails first to help the colour last longer and to prevent staining. Then, apply two coats of nail polish, waiting for each coat to dry in between. Finish with a top coat to seal in the colour and add shine.
Step 7: Clean Up
Clean up any stray polish on your skin using a cotton tip dipped in nail polish remover. Be sure to wait until the polish is completely dry before cleaning up, as this can smudge the polish.
And there you have it, a perfect at-home manicure! It may take some practice to perfect your technique, but with time and patience, you'll have beautiful nails that you can do yourself. So, go ahead and give it a try! Who knows, you may never want to go to a salon again.
